Manual
Hardware setup
First you have to setup your hardware:

- Connect the IRdeo interface to one of the internal serial ports of your PC
(so COM1 or COM2), using a serial cable
- Then connect the LANC connector of your camera to one of the LANC busses
of the IRdeo interface, using a LANC cable
Software installation
Make sure that the following software is installed on your system:
- Windows NT 4.0, 2000 or XP
(the plug-in will not work under Windows 95, 98 or ME)
- Adobe Premiere 6.0 or higher
To install the plug-in, you just copy it to the plug-ins directory of your
Adobe Premiere installation (probably: "C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Premiere 6.0\Plug-ins").
Software setup
Once the plug-in is installed, you have to configure Adobe Premiere to make
sure the plug-in will be used:
- Select the option "Scratch Disks and Device Control..." from the menu "Edit"
/ "Preferences":

to make the preferences dialog appear.
- Select the option "IRdeo Device Control":

- Now the setup dialog of the IRdeo plug-in appears. Select the serial port
to which the IRdeo interface is connected, and the LANC connector on the IRdeo
interface to which the camera is connected:

The first time you use the plug-in, also press the "Calibrate" button. Before
you do so, make sure all connections and the settings above have been made!
Calibration is necessary to make sure the plug-in can understand and speak the
language of your camera.
Usage
Now that the software is installed and configured, you can start using it:
- In Adobe Premiere select the option "Movie capture" from the menu "File" /
"Capture":

to make the movie capture dialog appear.
- In this dialog, press the device control buttons below the preview area to
control your camera. You can fast forward, rewind, step forward or backward,
play, pause, etc. Notice that you also see the value of the counter of the
camera:

This value is also used if you create a capture batch job. See the manual of
Adobe Premiere for more information.
